Sending you Hugs Floral Card

Hello and welcome, Glad you could stop by. I haven't posted for a while because of my back issues. Can't sit for very long in my craft chair. So, I'm happy to get this card finished and posted.

This card will be sent to one of my nieces. She has been struggling with cancer for several years now and now on top of everything she has shingles. I personally have never had shingles but have heard that it's pretty painful.

So, I'm hoping this card will bring a smile to her and let her know that I'm thinking of her.

I am so bad at not using my patterned papers, so I made myself go through some floral ones and found this one. I thought it was pretty.

This was my first time using the heart die. I've had it for a good while. I know that I won it but can't remember from who. The sentiment is from Spellbinders and the die is from S.U. The cardstocks were in my scraps. I colored a white ribbon with an alcohol marker from Arrtx.

Thanks for stopping by. Happy day to you!

Have a Groovy Birthday Card & recipe

Hello and welcome, today is the last day of January and also my granddaughter's birthday. Sharing the card that I made for her.

I did have a little trouble coloring the image. The alcohol ink kept bleeding out beyond the lines. So, I waited until it dried and used the blender pen to try to push the ink back. There is one place where it didn't work. Even though it bothered me I left it because I didn't want to have to start all over.

The lava lamp is a digital image from Dr. Digi's House of Stamps that I won on a challenge. I've had it for a year now, so it was nice to finally use it.
I colored the image with alcohol markers and used a blender pen to make a few areas lighter. I added a record that I had in my stash because my granddaughter loves old records.
Cardstocks used are cherry cobbler and crushed curry from S.U. and also white and black. Paper is from the paper studio. On the paper I stamped little speaks of red. For that I used a stamp set called Itty Bitty Backgrounds from Stampin Up. Printed the sentiment on my computer in paint. The little flowers are from a very old punch that I haven't used in several years. I love using old things that I haven't used in a long time.
I know that the card isn't perfect, but I'm sure she will love it.

As soon as this post is done, I will be heading to the kitchen to make her cake. She is wanting a lemon cake. I made her one last year and she loved it.
I make homemade lemon curd to put between the layers and already made it yesterday evening. so, I thought I would share with you on how to make it.

Lemon Curd

5 egg yolks

1 cup sugar

1/2 cup lemon juice (freshly squeezed)

1 tsp lemon zest

1/2 cup unsalted butter (cold and cubed)

In medium saucepan add egg yolks, sugar and lemon juice. Whisk until combined.

Place over low heat for 10 minutes stirring occasionally and then bring the heat up some for an additional 5 minutes.

After mixture thickens add lemon zest and stir until combined.

Remove the mixture from the heat.

Add cubed butter one piece at a time, whisking in between each one.

You can pour the lemon curd through a fine mesh strainer to remove any lumps, but I don't do that step. I haven't had a problem with lumps. Pour into a heat proof Jar or container.

Cool to room temperature and place in fridge to chill for at least 2 hours. It will thicken as it cools.

To prevent a film from forming, you can place a piece of plastic wrap directly to top of curd.

This stuff is so yummy. I could just eat it by the spoonful. Have any of you made it before? I am planning on making a lemon curd cake this coming summer sometime.

Hope you enjoyed your visit and hope you can make it back again. Have a wonderful day!

Happy Birthday Scarlett River!!!

Winter Scene Birthday card & Recipe

Hello, this is my first post for the new year. Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. We had a good time. Our children and grandchildren came over to open presents and then later in the evening we went to our daughters for Christmas dinner.

The first birthday in my family for the new year is my niece, Amy. Wasn't for sure what kind of card to make her. So, I thought that I would try to use something that I haven't used in a long time. Spotted the window die from Stampin Up and thought It might be a good time to use it again.

For the snowy outdoor scene, I used the Stampin Up stamp set called Happy Scenes. Added wink of stella to the snow-covered ground and to the snowflakes. The paper that I used for the wall I found in my 6x6 paper stash. I wanted something that was red and looked a like wallpaper. This was the first red one in the stack, since I was running out of time to get the card done, I thought this one would do. Sentiment is from a S.U. set called Best Birds. All inks used are from S.U. Added a brown satin ribbon and a diamond gem.

I kept putting off making this card, shame on me because then I had to rush last minute to get it done. But I think it turned out ok and I'm sure she will be happy to receive it.

On New Years Eve I knew that the grandkids were going to be coming over, so I decided to make a pie. I had some eggnog left so I decided to make an eggnog pie and of course I have to share the recipe with you all.

No Bake Eggnog Pie

Ingredients needed

1 1/2 cup eggnog

1 3.4-ounce pkg instant vanilla pudding

1/2 tsp. nutmeg

10 Graham crackers

6 tbs butter melted

1 container of cool whip

You can buy a readymade crust but if you're making your own, you can use a food processor or do like me and put the graham crackers in food storage bag and finely crush with a rolling pen, in a small bowl microwave 6 Tbs of butter until melted. Mix in graham crackers until all the crumbs are moistened. If it's still too dry add a little more butter. Pour into a 9-inch pie dish and press down with fingers to make crust. Place in refrigerator until needed.

In medium bowl add eggnog, pudding mix and nutmeg, mix with handheld mixer on medium speed until it starts to thicken. Fold in cool whip and pour into pie dish. Refrigerate at least 4 hours but overnight is best.

I love easy dessert recipes, and this is one is pretty easy, especially if you have a ready-made crust. My husband hates eggnog. I tell him that he's crazy that it's the best drink ever. But to my surprise he loved the pie and said it rocks.

Do any of you like Eggnog and if so, do you have a favorite brand? Also have any of you had eggnog pie.

I have never made homemade eggnog, but my mom would make it when I was a young girl. I don't really care for most brands, but my all-time favorite is the brand Southern Comfort. Too me and my family there is no better. Goodness it's so good. It's also good in coffee.

Thanks for stopping by, hope you all have a wonderful year. Blessings to you all!
