Hello, Having some chilly weather here on Mother's Day. Enjoying a hot cup of coffee before I get to busy.
Thunderstorms with lightning heading this way. Looks like I might be getting a little wet later going to see my Mom. Hopefully the storms won't last to long.
Sharing with you all the card I created for my Mom for Mother's Day.
This one was created using a napkin. Isn't that napkin gorgeous with those sweet little blue birds. Oh I love it so much.
I wasn't for sure where to place the sentiment because I didn't want to cover up any of the pretty image. So I decided to put it in the center.
I also added a light blue sheer ribbon so that the image would still show through. The sentiment is from S.U. I also added a little pearl next to the sentiment. I think she will love this one. I know I do.
Also I wanted to share a recipe with you all. This cake is called by several names. But I call it Mandarin Sunshine Cake.
I made one this past Easter and I'm making one today to take to my Mom's for the dinner. Going to be adding some candles to this one. It's one of my sister's birthday today.
Mandarin Sunshine Cake
Ingredients for cake-
Butter Cake Mix
1 can mandarin oranges 11 ounce w/juice
3/4 cup oil
4 eggs
Ingredients for frosting
1 cool whip
1 - 3 ounce vanilla instant pudding
1 - 20 ounce can crushed pineapple (drained)
Preheat oven 350 and grease and flour a 9x13 pan
In large bowl mix cake mix with mandarin oranges w/ juice and oil.
Add eggs one at a time and mix well.
Pour batter into pan and bake for 35-40 minutes. Cool completely
Frosting
In medium bowl, mix pudding w/ crushed pineapple (drain) Mix in a tub of cool whip. Put into fridge for 15-20 minutes and frost cake.
I like to keep back a few mandarin oranges to place on top of cake.
As you can see this cake is pretty easy to make and it is really good. So hope you will give it a try.
Well I need to get off here and start the cake. I will be spending a few days with my Mom. Thanks for stopping by, and Happy Mother's Day to all you Mom's.
